Why PetPro Buffalo for Nowra lawns
Soft where it matters
PetPro Buffalo's standout feature is its soft, low-irritant leaf. Compared with some coarser buffalo varieties, the softer leaf texture is less likely to cause skin irritation or scratching. That makes it a smart choice for households with dogs and other pets that spend a lot of their day out on the lawn, and for kids who play barefoot.
Tough where it counts
PetPro is not just a pet lawn. Its broad, soft leaves grow into a dense, attractive lawn that feels great underfoot and stands up to the everyday knocks of a working backyard: kids playing, dogs running laps and regular foot traffic between the house, the clothesline and the shed.
Suited to sun and shade
Most Nowra yards are a mix of full sun, dappled light and shaded corners beside fences, sheds and established trees. PetPro Buffalo handles that variety well. With the right establishment and ongoing care, it produces a healthy, even lawn right across the yard, and it is well matched to the NSW South Coast climate.
Grown here, not trucked in
PetPro Buffalo is grown locally by Ryans Turf, a family business that has been supplying and installing lawns on the South Coast since 1995. Local growing means your turf is cut fresh, travels a short distance and is already adapted to Shoalhaven conditions before it reaches your yard.
Why choose PetPro Buffalo?

PetPro Buffalo FAQs for Nowra Homeowners
Is PetPro Buffalo good for dogs?
Yes. PetPro has a soft, low-irritant leaf that is less likely to cause skin irritation or scratching than some coarser buffalo varieties, so it is a comfortable lawn for dogs and other pets that spend a lot of time outside. Its dense, hardy growth also copes well with the running and rough play that come with an active dog.
Is it soft enough for kids to play on barefoot?
It is. The broad, soft leaf is one of the main reasons families choose PetPro. It feels good underfoot and still holds up to everyday backyard use.
Will it grow in the shady parts of my yard?
PetPro Buffalo suits yards with a mix of sun and shade, which covers most residential blocks around Nowra. Heavily shaded areas under dense tree cover will challenge any lawn, so tell us about your yard and we will advise on the best approach.
How does PetPro Buffalo handle the Nowra climate?
PetPro is grown locally on the NSW South Coast, so it is already adapted to the region's conditions before it is cut. With good establishment and ongoing care it produces a healthy, attractive lawn year-round.
How is PetPro Buffalo different from Sir Walter or Sapphire?
All three are soft-leaf buffalo varieties. PetPro is positioned as the practical, pet-friendly all-rounder for busy family backyards. If you are weighing up varieties, our team can walk you through the differences for your specific yard.
Do you install, or just supply?
Both. Order rolls for a DIY lay, or book our crew for full installation. We offer a free measure and quote either way.
Where do you deliver PetPro Buffalo?
Across Nowra and the Shoalhaven, including Bomaderry, Berry, Vincentia, Huskisson, Sanctuary Point and Ulladulla, plus Kiama, Shellharbour, Dapto, Albion Park, Wollongong and the Illawarra. Pick-up is available from our Coolangatta farm.

Thank you to Ryans Turf. Jackie was very helpful and knowledgeable when we purchased our Sapphire turf as we were advised great for kids to play on. It made it easy for us to drive from Nowra as we placed our order over the phone and they cut it that day for us to pick up in the afternoon. The grass was so fresh, lush and thick. Thank you so much. Mark and Kel.
I am so impressed with the whole team at Ryans Turf Nowra. I requested a quote for 40m2 of Kikuyu Turf and received a response from Jacqui within the hour, along with a very competitive price.
I confirmed my order with a very jovial and helpful, Peta, in the office and received the product within two days and at the precise time that I had been given. The quality of the turf is unbelievable. (Like it was just harvested on the day of delivery). The delivery driver could not have been more helpful. He had a very friendly manner and placed the turf exactly where I requested him to place it. Don't look anywhere else. These guys are great. Thank you.
